FLUTE LESSONS
My teaching studio consists of students of all ages and abilities. Students are encouraged to learn at their own individual paces, and can choose to involve themselves in various exams and competitions if they wish. Many of my students have won prizes, trophies, and scholarships from the Kiwanis Music Festival. Others have taken Royal Conservatory Exams, receiving honours and above, and some have chosen to pursue music at a university level. Recorder is an instrument that I recommend to students who would like to play flute but aren't physically capable of reaching the keys (for example, younger students with arms not long enough). Many who start on recorder switch to the flute as they progress.
PIANO AND THEORY LESSONS
I also offer lessons in piano and theory. Beginner piano students are taught the basics of music in a positive, encouraging environment. As a student advances, it will be my pleasure to recommend other teachers in your area who could continue to guide the development of your child/self.
Note: If you are coming for a first lesson, and have already attained some level of proficiency on the flute or piano (ie. you are not a beginner), please have a piece prepared to play that you feel comfortable with, and reflects your level of playing.
"Natasha Harrison is an excellent music teacher. I have been her student since 2002. Apart from her considerable experience as a professional musician, she brings a passion and caring for her students that is inspiring. She is able to gauge instruction both the the level of expertise and the maturity of her students. I have learned so much from her teaching. She both encourages me and challenges me, and my ability to play the flute has developed dramatically because of her approach. I recommend her highly."
